How Double Color Works
Double Color is a deliberate two-step process: hair is lightened first, then toned or recolored to reach shades a single process can’t produce. This order creates a lighter base before applying the target pigment, enabling vivid fashion colors, pastels, and much lighter tones while prioritizing an even foundation for color clarity.
The end result depends on the starting hair color, previous chemical history, and hair condition. During consultation we consider those factors and discuss realistic goals. Very dark or previously treated hair may require staged sessions for a safe, even lift rather than a single appointment to avoid over-processing.
Hair Health and Care
Because double color involves additional processing steps, extra protective measures and conditioning are important to limit stress on the hair. The salon takes care during lightening and applies toners only after the desired lift is reached. You will receive professional aftercare guidance to support strength and manage color between visits.
Alexandria’s humid subtropical climate — hot, humid summers and variable seasons — can influence how color looks and how quickly it appears to fade. Sun exposure and humidity may change vibrancy, so expect maintenance trade-offs with high-impact hues and follow recommended at-home routines to help preserve your shade.
Scheduling and Local Convenience
Double Color takes longer than a single-process dye, so plan for an extended appointment and a full consultation beforehand. We offer flexible early morning, evening, and weekend times to suit commuters traveling along Richmond Highway, the Beltway, or to Fort Belvoir, and to accommodate military-connected clients and families.
Our Hybla Valley location makes it easy to combine salon time with errands at Mount Vernon Plaza or a walk at Huntley Meadows Park afterward. Clients from Groveton, Fort Hunt, Belle Haven, Mount Vernon and Huntington can arrange appointments around commuting routes and access via Huntington Metro Station to minimize travel disruption.
